Tsunami Relief Overview



Upon the request of the Indonesian government, World Harvest has responded and provided emergency relief assistance to the tsunami-afflicted people in Aceh and Northern Sumatra in the following order:
  • Provision of Medical Supply: Dispatched medical supplies and equipment according to the list given by the hospitals in Aceh.
  • Deployment of Medical Staff: volunteer doctors and nurses to Aceh mainly from Indonesia, USA and Australia.
  • Initiating temporary Care Centers: Set locations where people can receive immediate medical assistance.
  • Mobilizing Volunteers and Communities Caretakers: Deployed volunteers to Aceh to help victims in distress through crisis counseling.
  • Food Aid Supply: Distributed emergency relief food to needy people including supplementary food for children.
  • Crisis Counseling: Focused on the emotional ramifications of the Tsunami disaster victims. Experienced crises workers in counseling techniques were deployed.
  • Hospital Rehabilitation: World Harvest actively participated in rehabilitating hospitals and clinics.
